Background
All B&Q stores are units that handle high volumes of foot traffic, making its flooring subject to significant wear. Over the years, the existing flooring began to show signs of deterioration, including scratches, stains, and fading, not only impacting the facility’s appearance but also posing safety issues.
The Challenge
Management at B&Q recognised that the existing flooring solution was ineffective and under performing. It was unable to withstand the daily demands, resulting in increased maintenance costs and a less-than-inviting atmosphere for visitors and staff. With safety being a top priority, they needed a durable, easy-to-maintain flooring option that still looked great.
Our Intervention
Beaver Floorcare were engaged onto the project to renovate the concrete flooring within the main walkway areas at a B&Q store. Our approach centred on creating a solution that was both practical and visually appealing.
- Assessment: We performed a comprehensive evaluation of the existing flooring, identifying all areas needing attention.
- Test Area: A test section was completed so the client could visualise the final finish of the concrete and overall appearance.
- Implementation: After approval, our team honed the concrete floor using diamond abrasives and finished on a 200 grit. We then sealed the floor with Dr Schutz PU Sealer and UV cured it. Repairs of failing areas were also addressed, cut out and replaced.
